Nick Jonas says he was worried that he damaged his relationship with Joe Jonas and Kevin Jonas after he initiated the band’s breakup.
“I feared that, you know, they would never speak to me again,” Nick said during an interview with Tracy Smith for an upcoming episode of “CBS Sunday Morning.” The Jonas Brothers’ full interview will air on Sunday at 9 a.m ET.
Joe added that he was convinced that there was “going to be no more brothers, ever” after the siblings sat down and discussed ending the group.
The Jonas Brothers split in fall 2013, shortly before they were slated to go on tour and release a fifth studio album. After revealing their breakup, the band appeared on ABC's "Good Morning America" and Kevin said "it was time."

Nick also said that he was the one to suggest that they end the band because they reached a point in which they weren't being open and honest with each other.
"We're family first, and that's always been our main priority, and so honesty within what we do as a group was really important," he said. "In a nutshell, I said, 'Look, I feel like we've had some complications within the group for a long time without addressing them. I think this train will fall off the tracks without really getting real about some of the concerns and some of the limitations that we may feel as individuals in the group.'"
He added: "It was a tough conversation. It was the first time we really had that real conversation. It was a few days of working through it."
In 2013, the Jonas Brothers released "Pom Poms" and "First Time." When the band revealed their split, there were reports that low ticket sales and disagreements about the direction of their music contributed to the break. Speaking to Smith on "CBS Sunday Morning," Nick said: "To call it creative differences is almost too simple."
"I think a lot of people lost the appetite for what we were putting into the world," he continued. "We were putting up shows that weren't selling. We were making music that I don't think we were all super-proud of, and it wasn't connected."
While filming their "Chasing Happiness" documentary for Amazon Prime in 2018, the siblings had serious discussions about getting the band back together. They agreed that in order to make music again, they had to go to therapy and have tough conversations about things that they avoided for years.
The Jonas Brothers made a comeback in February 2019 with the release of "Sucker" and its accompanying music video that featured all of their partners. In addition to their documentary that will be released on Tuesday, they'll also be releasing their first album in 10 years, "Happiness Begins," on June 7.
